Safety first, nothing to see here folks. Just day after firing Lovie Smith (the insufferable Ben Carson of NFL coaches), Koetter was pretty a lock to take over the position. While I’m normally never sold when a team upgrades an OC/DC to head coach, Jameis seemed to click pretty quickly with Koetter and his offense so the move makes sense going forward. Even if things go horribly wrong in the next few seasons, at least we have a coach who’s there to coach and not one who’s there trying to be best buds with all the players.
As long as Koetter’s first head coaching gig doesn’t bring us back to the Bucs of 2014, I think we’ll be alright.
